Kickoff Tue, 2024-04-09; 10:00am - 11:00am Seminar Room 003, Kopernikusstraße 6, Extension Building IT Center

The seminar deals with current research topics in the field of Virtual Reality. Topics are taken from conference contributions and the latest journal publications. The focus is on research and applications in medicine, mechanical engineering, machine and plant construction, as well as social VR.

Course

Topics will be presented in the kick-off meeting and are assigned afterward based on students' preferences. In addition to the final seminar paper, participants must also submit an extended abstract (max. 3 pages) and meet with their supervisor once, to get feedback during the writing process. Presentations will be given in an intensive block course format towards the end of the lecture period. More information will be given in the kickoff meeting.

Attention: The seminar is supported by the scientific workflow guide SWOFI. Once the course starts, all further information about tasks and the required deliverables for each deadline is found under https://swofi.net:30001. It is crucial to follow the instructions listed there to successfully finish the course.

Requirements

Previous knowledge of the subject is not required; but attendance in the Virtual Reality and Computer Graphics lectures by Professors Kuhlen and Kobbelt, respectively, is recommended.

Succesful Participation

Students who wish to successfully participate in the seminar must submit a written paper (a PDF file created using our LaTeX template, page count: 16-20), give a successful presentation of the paper (and a prior test presentation in front of their supervisor) at the block seminar, and attend the block seminar in its entirety. Please note that all deadlines and requirements such as minimum page count must be met. The decision on who will successfully participate will be announced after the block seminar.

Certificate of Participation ("Schein")

If you need a certificate, please contact our office after successfully passing the seminar.
